Day 1: Kampala – Jinja
You will be met and briefed by our Igufa Safaris guide and thereafter, transfer to Jinja. Your rafting adventure will start at the Raft Uganda Camp near the source of the Nile. This will commence after briefing and precaution measures taken by the professional handling team.
Enjoy an awesome lunch on a private mid River Island after a few exhilarating hours on the Nile. Proceed to view the “actual source of the Nile” before visiting some craft shops where you can pick upa few souvenirs. Return to your hotel / lodging.
Day 2: to Lake Mburo
After breakfast, start your journey south west to Lake Mburo National park arriving at your overnight safari camp in time for lunch. Set off a little later for an evening game drive as the intensity of the sun starts to diminish. We head off in search of various mammals especially zebra and giraffe before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.
Located conveniently close to the highway that connects Kampala to the parks of western Uganda, Lake Mburo National Park (LMNP) is a compact gem. The smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks, it is home to 350 bird species as well as zebra, giraffe, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck. Together with 13 other lakes in the area, Lake Mburo forms part of a 50km-long wetland system linked by a swamp. Five of these lakes lie within the park’s borders.
Day 3: to Queen Elizabeth
After lazy breakfast, you will depart Lake Mburo in game drive style – view a number of animals as they graze the savanah for their morning meal. On our way, we will top over at a regional museum where a brief tour will allow you to learn about the Ankole people of this region.
Lunch will be served in Mbarara town before proceeding to to arrive at your lodge in the early evening – relax the rest of the day.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth Activity
After an early morning warm up tea or coffee, you will head for a game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queen’s Mile in search of animals like: lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, mangoose, waterbucks, kobs and, if you’re lucky the leopard. There are about 606 bird species recorded here.
After lunch, transfer to enjoy a unique two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This launch cruise gives you a great opportunity for photography, bird watching and game viewing at close range. Return to the comfort of your lodge.
Day 5: Chimp trekking
Head out early after breakfast to Kalinzu forest or Kyambura for a chimp experience (location will be determined by weather conditions to allow for client satisfaction). After briefing, you will be lead into the forest by an experience ranger guide in search of human’s “closet cousins” in the animal kingdom. There are a number of other primates that can be spotted along the way.
Return to your lodge in time for lunch after a rewarding morning in the forest. Relax the rest of the day or visit some nearby communities to experience the local way of life for the region.
Day 6: to Entebbe
After breakfast, transfer to Kampala / Entebbe arriving in time for your return flight home.
