Day 1: Welcome to Uganda
You will be welcomed by a representative of Igufa Safaris who will transfer you to your overnight hotel in the city. Depending on the time of arrival, our guide will take you on a brief city tour for an exciting introduction to the capital.
Day 2: to Jinja
After an early breakfast, you will be picked from hotel and transferred to Jinja, the origin of the mighty river Nile. On our way we will have a stop at Mabira Forest with optional walk through the forest which hosts different primates, birds and butterflies. Other activity alternatives may include a visit to the Source of the Nile, the Bujagali Falls, a visit to the local market, Jinja city tour and simply relaxing on the shores of the Nile.
Transfer to your city hotel for the night.
Day 3: to Mount Elgon
Head further east through Mbale, a charming town at the foot of the Mount Elgon ranges. This area is full of rich heritage and fascinating culture. With some beautiful view points on our way we will reach Sipi Village, nestled between mountains and waterfalls.
After lunch at your overnight accommodation, take a hike to the lovely Sipi Falls passed typical traditional homesteads, plantations and maize fields. Your overnight stay will be set in the shadow of the mountain with great flora and fauna surrounding your vicinity.
Day 4: to Piswa Camp
After a hearty breakfast, transfer to Kapkwata at 2190 meters – here on the Kapkwata trail is where the adventure truly begins. It is a scenic route running through bamboo, heath and moor land before you arrive at Piswa Camp seating at 2850 meters. Dinner and overnight camping at Piswa Hut Campsite.
Day 5: to Hunters Cave Camp
Hike further to the rim of the caldera through beautiful columns of rare and endemic plant species like the giant Lobelia Elgonensis and the wild Everlasting flowers; one to which a visit to the slopes of Mount Elgon can’t go without finding. Tread past the the hot springs and Suam Gorge before arriving at Hunters Cave Camp at 3850 meters, dinner and camping.
